Interim Partial Denture (Flipper)

Cost: $300 ($25 added to cost for every additional tooth, so a 2-tooth flipper is $325, etc.)

A flipper is a removable dental appliance that can be made quickly and used as a replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissue that are visible when smiling or talking.  They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and enhance your smile.

A flipper only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth. It is made of "gums" made of pink acrylic, and "teeth" made of tooth-colored acrylic, but does not have a metal baseplate (like a partial). This means is should not be used as a permanent solution for missing teeth, and it cannot be used to chew, however, you can leave it in while eating.

Flippers can last months or even years if properly cared for but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear. If anything happens to your flipper, please bring it to our office. Our in-house lab can repair almost any problem!

Reasons for flipper:

What does getting a flipper involve?

The process of getting a flipper often can be completed in a single day (if the process starts before 12:00 pm).  Highly accurate impressions (molds) and measurements are taken in the morning and used to create your custom flipper.  After 1:00 pm, your dentist will precisely adjust and place the completed flipper, ensuring a natural and comfortable fit.

It is normal to experience increased saliva flow, some soreness, and possible speech and chewing difficulty, however this will subside as your muscles and tissues get used to the new flipper.

You will be given care instructions for your new flipper.  Proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new flipper.
